City considers eliminating parking meters
You won’t have to dig for change to feed the parking meter in a couple of years. You’ll still have to pay…just not with cash.
The city is looking at replacing 1,700 parking meters with what it is calling pay stations…similiar to ones in waterfront parking lots where you display a ticket in your front window. You’d get the ticket at the station at the end of a block using Appleplay, credit cards or other options. The changeover cost is estimated at $4.5 million.
