Fishermen go to court to stop tidal turbines

The Bay of Fundy Inshore Fishermen’s Association was in court yesterday trying to stop the testing of two hufe tidal power turbines in Minas Passage.

The Association, representing 175 fishermen, says the Cape Sharp Tidal project is based on junk science and should be put on hold until a year-long study can establish a scientific baseline for the state of the marine life in the bay.

Matt Lumley, at the Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy, said that position is not accurate and it’s false to claim D-F-O believes baseline data is inaccurate.
