Ecology Action Centre joins resistance to Alton natural gas project

The Ecology Action Centre stands in solidarity with Mi’kmaq communities and others against the Alton Natural Gas Storage Project. It would have up to 18 unconventional salt caverns underground in the Stewiacke area to store the gas. That would produce an immense amount of brine wastewater, which would be dumped into the Shubenacadie estuary. In a release the centre says those affected haven’t been adequately engaged or represented by the government.
