Search by Heavily Armed Police Closes Dartmouth Street

Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth was locked down by heavily armed police officers on Saturday but police were unable to locate the person they were looking for. Officers with rifles drawn surrounded an apartment building near the Dartmouth North Community Centre. The situation began unfolding around 12:30pm, with police telling residents in the area to stay in their homes or find cover. Around 3pm an RCMP unit in full riot gear arrived and entered the building. Canine units and ambulances were also at the scene standing by. Shortly before 8pm last night Police informed the media that they were unable to locate a person with an outstanding arrest warrant and that the area was being reopened to the public.
