Premier says no to carbon tax

Provincial politicians are not welcoming the prime minister’s announcement that Ottawa will set and enforce a minimum carbon tax if the provinces don’t.

Premier Stephen McNeil says his government definitely won’t be implementing a carbon tax…and he supports his Environment Minister Margaret Miller’s decision to walk out of the national ministers’ meeting when Trudeau announced it. McNeil says he believes there are other ways to achieve reductions and will be working with the national government to make that happen.
