Navy says Goodbye to HMCS Preserver

The Canadian Navy said goodbye to the HMCS Preserver yesterday. The auxiliary oiler replenishment vessel spent 46 years in active service taking part in everything from United Nations peacekeeping missions to recovery efforts after the crash of Swissair Flight 111 off Peggy’s Cove. The HMCS preserver was first commissioned in Saint John, New Brunswick on August 7th, 1970 and a ceremony marking the end of that commission was held Friday in Halifax.
