The NSTU is asking the Labour Minister to appoint a conciliation board to help end the simmering contract dispute.
Members voted 96% in favour of strike action earlier this week. However, Union president Liette Doucet says teachers don’t want to strike and they’re hoping to get back to the bargaining table.
Labour Minister Kelly Regan said yesterday she hadn’t heard from the Education Department yet, which would have to approve going to a concilliation board. It has until the end of the day Tuesday to respond.
