Team Canada beat Europe 4-1 in its final preliminary round game at the World Cup of Hockey. Canada had already qualified for the semi-finals and will play either Team North America or Russia.

The Blue Jays lost 2-1 to Seattle and drop further behind the Red Sox who beat Baltimore 5-1. The Jays are still a game ahead of the Orioles for the top wildcard spot. Yankees downed Tampa Bay 11-5.
