New scam aimed at businesses

At least one organization in Halifax has been targeted by scammers with a particular ploy.

Businesses and other organization are being warned by Halifax police to be on the lookout for emails from someone claiming to be with a courier company advising that a delivery had been missed and asking for a shipping label. When the victim clicks on the attachment, their computers are encrypted and a note demands a ransom to unlock them.
