Horses hoarse

Veterinarians are concerned about a respiratory infection raging through horses at agricultural exhibitions in the Annapolis Valley area.

The horses were all at the Annapolis Valley Ex in Lawrencetown or the Digby County Ex…or in contact with horses that were. Veterinarian Nicole MacHattie told CBC she treated ten horses over the weekend. Testing is underway to determine just what it is. The horses are responding well to anti-biotics and she doesn’t know of any that have died. Horse owners are concerned with more exhibitions coming up.
