Forgiveness: A Gift from my Grandparents is the true story of author Mark Sakamoto’s grandparents. His maternal grandfather was a prisoner of war in Japan during the Second World War, meanwhile his paternal grandmother and her Japanese-Canadian family were interned in Alberta. The memoir was defended by fashion icon, entrepreneur and author Jeanne Beker for Canada Reads in 2018, and also won.
