The family of Dennis Oland came out of the Court of Appeal in Fredericton yesterday with big smiles on their faces. The three justices overturned Oland’s second degree murder conviction in the death of his father Richard, and ordered a new trial citing an error by the trial judge in his instructions to the jury.

Oland is still in custody for now but his lawyers will be back in court today seeking bail.
