There’s another hangup in getting one of Cape Sharp Tidal’s massive turbines into the water in Minas Passage.

The 320 tonne tubine is sitting on a barge in Saint John Harbour needing repairs. It arrived on a specially designed barge from Halifax nearly three weeks ago but Saint John doesn’t have a crane large enough to lift it. The company is now asking Ottawa to allow it to bring in a non-Canadian ship with a crane large enough to handle the giant turbine.
