The Halifax Pride Parade will take to the streets of the downtown core Saturday, July 20. Starting late Friday night, parking will not be allowed along the parade route. Residents are invited to the grand opening of the North Preston Community Centre Basketball Court this Saturday, July 20 in North Preston. The opening, which will coincide with the annual North Preston Days event will feature planned activities including exhibition games, a T-shirt giveaway and refreshments. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong took "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Saint Mary's University's will be marking the 50th anniversary of this historic event by showing a special viewing of the Apollo 11 documentary. SMU's showing of Apollo 11 goes Saturday at the Scotiabank Conference Theatre in the Sobey School of Business building.
